1947
In addition to establishing and operating an electrical contracting business in 1947, Elliott Landsman dedicated his career to real estate. Much later in life, when most people his age were considering retirement, Elliott started to form a unique family of companies which would specialize in real estate development, property management, and construction.
Elliott also served on various boards including the United Way, the Alexis De Tocqueville Society, the Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester, Inc., Action for a Better Community, and the Rochester Rehabilitation Center, Inc.

1967
Rochester Industrial Center was the first commercial property purchased by Elliott Landsman. This property dates to the early 1900’s when it was built by T.H. Symington to operate a foundry machine shop and office building.
Today Rochester Industrial Center is the home to several small business owners who operate manufacturing businesses.
The commercial division now manages over 2,000,000 square feet of commercial property, including medical office, flex, warehouse, manufacturing, and retail space.

At the age of 51, Elliott Landsman dedicated himself full time to the real estate business and at this time, Landsman Development Corp. was formed.
Elliott’s vision for Landsman Development Corp. was to develop industrial, commercial, and multi-family residential real estate.
1971 was also the year Elliott Landsman purchased Southview Towers, the company’s first residential property.
Today Landman manages over 2,500 residential units located throughout Upstate New York.

In 1972, Elliott formed the property management company Mayzon Management Corporation.
The name comes from the French word maison, meaning “HOME!”
In 1986, the name was changed to Mayzon Corp. and in 2008 it became Landsman Real Estate Services, Inc. d/b/a Landsman. Landsman’s headquarters are located at 3 Townline Circle, Rochester, New York.

1978
Landsman purchased the 800,000 square foot former Stromberg Carlson building to add to its portfolio. Landsman added to the rich Stromberg telecommunications and electronics history with several tenants including Kodak and, Harris Corporation. It won the 2017 NAIOP Adaptive Reuse Award as it repurposed the building with several new tenants including Radio Social, Comedy At The Carlson, and Carlson Cowork, to name a few.

Mayzon Building Services Group, Inc. was formed in 1988 from a central maintenance team for Mayzon-managed properties.
In 2010, the name changed to Landsman Building Services Group, Inc (BSG).
BSG has since expanded its services as a general contractor in commercial and residential construction throughout the Greater Rochester business community.
BSG also offers emergency services to the Rochester, New York area 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
BSG’s headquarters are located at 465 Blossom Road, Rochester, New York.

Landsman converted the former Bond Clothing Plant on Martin Street into the school-supported Family Learning Center. Today, there are tenants at this location that continue to help individuals earn GEDs, learn English or receive occupational training. It also houses students and administration for the Rochester City School District.

1999
In 1999, Landsman Development Corp. built Avon on the Green, which is in the center of Avon, New York. This quaint community offers 35 cozy one-bedroom apartments for Seniors to call home.

2006
In 2006, Los Flamboyanes, a high rise and townhome community in the City of Rochester, underwent a rehab which included:
- New windows, front entrance and balcony sliding doors, roofs, heating system, kitchen cabinets and appliances, bathroom vanities and sinks, as well as new flooring throughout.
New elevator interior finishes, security cameras, rain shield siding on the tower along with new walkways and parking lots were also included in the site work.

In 2009, St. Simon’s Terrace, a high rise and townhome community in the City of Rochester, underwent a rehab which included:
New heating systems, windows, roofs, doors elevators, security system, and staircases to townhome entrances along with sitework which included new sidewalks.

- Tax-exempt bonds issued through New York State Housing Finance Agency (HFA)
- Subsidy loan – HFA
- Loan – Empire State Development Corp.

James A. Goff joined Landsman Development Corp. in 2001 and became President and CEO in 2011 when Elliott Landsman became Chairman. During his tenure, Jim continued to execute Elliott’s strategic vision and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Landsman family of companies.

In 2012 Phillips Village, a townhome and apartment community in Webster, New York, underwent a rehab which included:
- New energy efficient windows, interior and exterior doors, roofs, siding, new kitchen cabinets, flooring, energy efficient appliances, bathtubs, sinks and toilets, gutters, and downspouts. The HVAC systems were also updated and the sitework included new catch basins and sidewalks.

2018
Landsman was excited to begin leasing up Maple Avenue Apartments, a senior living community in Elmira, New York, during the Summer of 2018 for third party owners, CDS Monarch. This property completely changed the lives of 50 residents in the Elmira market in a positive way.

Landsman began the successful lease up of AP Lofts at Larkinville in the Fall of 2018. This affordable, luxury, loft-style community is a flagship property located in Buffalo, New York.

Los Flamboyanes was renamed Padre Tracy Village at Los Flamboyanes, in honor of Father Laurence Tracy, who passed away at the age of 78.
Father Tracy was a key figure in Rochester’s northeast neighborhood. He ministered to the North Clinton neighborhood, and was revered by many in the Hispanic community.

In the Fall of 2019 Landsman began the lease up of Spring Village apartments, another spectacular development for CDS Monarch, located just north of Syracuse, in Cicero, New York and immediately found success in this new market.

In 2019, Southview Towers underwent an extensive rehab and was fondly renamed E.L. Tower in honor of Elliott Landsman.
The residents of E.L. Tower now enjoy a brand-new community. Every apartment, hallway, community room, staff offices, maintenance workshop, laundry room, elevators and mail room were renovated. The entire interior has new doors, paint, flooring, cabinets, tubs and sinks. All windows and appliances are energy efficient and because of this, Landsman was able to receive rebates from NYSERDA. All the plumbing, security system and fire systems were updated during this project.

Kurt E. Ziemendorf was appointed President and CEO at the end of 2020.
Kurt joined Landsman in 2007 and has worked in commercial real estate since 1985. His experience in residential, retail, office, medical and industrial real estate will honor Elliott Landsman’s legacy as the company continues to grow.

Landsman celebrates 50 years since Elliott founded the company with the primary purpose of serving others through real estate. Elliott’s legacy will continue to live on through the 125+ employees that share his vision.
